Proverbs Chapter 11

¹⁷ A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.

     I think this verse means that someone who is nice and respectful is benefiting themselves while someone who is mean is only hurting themselves. At times it is hard to be nice to everyone, but we have to remember that by being mean we are hurting ourselves by hurting our relationship with others and God. When we are nice we benefit ourselves with love. This week I am going to be nicer to my mom. This week I am also going to try to get along well with my dance coach.

Proverbs 10

¹² Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

      I think this verse means that hatred leads to violence and love forgives offenses. This verse stands out to me because it’s so true. There is so much violence in this world and the violence come from hatred. This verse is important because if everyone would love their neighbor and love their self there would be world peace. This week I am going to forgive those who have wronged me because holding onto anger leads to conflict. I am also going to try hard to love everyone for who they are and not get annoyed and impatient with individuals.     

Proverbs 9

9:6 Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding."

     I think this verse means that we are to leave our foolish destructive behavior and walk in the way of Jesus Christ. This verse is important because walking down a wrong disruptive path can led you to unhappiness. It stuck out to me because it is a good reminder that following Jesus should come over our selfish ways of what we want to do. This week I am going to walk in the path of understanding by going to mass instead of sleeping in. I am also going to work on getting along with both my parents because family is important and honoring your father and mother is one of God’s commandments.

Why Wikipedia is going down at midnight

This is a good feature article because earlier last week when I was doing research for a class of mine I tried to get on Wikipedia but the site went black and had a message was posted on it. I didn’t really understand what was going and this article explains why. Wikipedia had shut down for twenty-four hours in protest of the anti-privacy bills which was in a heated debate in Congress.  Wikipedia is now up and running after its successful protest.

The best multivitamin for you -- and 11 to steer clear of

This feature story caught my eye because I take a lot of vitamins. Well I am supposed to take a lot of vitamins. I do not drink milk and I tend to have low iron so this feature story intrigued me to read more about it. The story gives some good advice about which multivitamin is best for you. It said that price isn’t a sign of quality. Also you are better off sticking with mainstream names such as One-A-Day Women’s.

Proverbs 8

11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

This verse stands out to me because we humans at times tend to put material things above God. This verse to me says to put the wisdom of God above all else. Nothing can be compared to this wisdom that God gives us. We should be less concerned the material things in life and be more concerned about God. This week I am going to put God above material things by instead of listening to music before I go to bed I am going to say a prayer and talk to God. Also instead of spending my money on clothes and snacks afterschool I am going to save some money and give it to the collection at mass.

Pinnacle- It was taken out of P.E. class. What does the card game teach you? What are the benifits of the game? Should it be taught in P.E.? I'll interview students, Mr. Kurth, and possibly a math teacher and get their views of the card game taken out of P.E.

Senior Year- The stresses of senior year, future planning, and college. I will interview seniors and write about some of their troubles. I'll write advice to underclassmen about what to do to minimize the stress of their senior year. I could interview some students who have graduated in previous years and some of their troubles and advice.

This feature article gives you ten interesting ideas, methods, and products about how to get organized and clear the clutter from your closet. It is a feature story because this story informed, entertained and persuaded me. This is a good feature story because it held my attention to read the whole thing. Getting ones attention in the title is one thing, but writing well and keeping it entertaining and worthwhile is another. I think this article is worthwhile. I was interested in the advice they were trying to give. The article even persuaded me to clean some of my clutter from my closet. I thought some of the advice was very helpful. They say that you can find a feature story in almost every topic even how to clean your closet.
