2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
I believe this verse means that we are to take God’s commandments and his laws to heart. We are to rely on God’s laws for guidance as we rely on an apple for nutrition. This week I am going to keep God’s commandments and obey by his laws. The one commandment I am going to stress is not saying God’s name in vain.

Proverbs Chapter 6
6:27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap, And his clothes not be burned?
I think this verse means that there are consequences to our actions. If we are stupid enough to do what we know is wrong, there are negative consequences to follow. We need to be conscious of our actions and the cost that may result from these actions. This week I am going to strive to avoid playing with fire so I will not get burned!

State Cross Country
Well our cross country season has officially come to an end. We ended our season with a trip to Fort Dodge to the Iowa state meet! We did well and ran some of our personal bests of the year. Now that cross country is over it is back to dance season.

Proverbs 4
I think this verse means that God has taught us what is right and wrong. He leads us down the right path, we just need to follow him and not turn off the path. This verse stuck out to me because it can be easy to not follow our conscience and turn onto an evil path, but what we need to remember is that we can always find our way back to the right path. This week I am going to try to stay on the right path and follow my conscience.

Proverbs Chapter 5
5-1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight.
I think this verse means that we should take in God’s wisdom and listen to his advice. We many times ask for God’s advice and his guidance, but the hard thing is to follow through on the advice. There are times when we don’t want to do what God calls us or wants us to do. This verse jumps out at me because God’s wisdom is something we should listen to. This week I am going to ask God for wisdom and insight and follow through on his advice.

Proverbs Chapter 3
3-6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I think this verse is saying that we need to allow the presence of God and lean on him for understanding and he should lead us down the right path. At times we may not understand why something happens to us, but God has a plan for us. If we let him he will lead us down the right path. This verse jumps out at me because it is hard at times to accept God’s plan for us, but we must trust God. This week I am going to strive to listen to God and do what he is calling me to do.

This week in cross country!
I am running varsity cross-country this fall. We had two meets this week. We ran at Kingsley on Tuesday and West Sioux on Thursday. The girl’s team came out with a win at both of the meets! We have two meets until districts. We are very excited for districts. This week we found out who we would run against to qualify for state. You can see the districts at <http://www.iahsaa.org/crosscountry/11_1A_QUALIFYING_ASSIGNMENTS.pdf>.

Proverbs 2
2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
I think this verse means we should listen to the Word of God and take in those words to heart. We shouldn’t just let the words go in one ear and out the other. This verse stuck out to me because I believe this applies to me and my life. We go to church every Sunday, but how much do we actually take in. Many times I find myself daydreaming or distracted on something else going on in church. This week I am going to strive to pay attention more and take in the Word of God at mass.

Proverbs (1-10)
My son, if sinners entice you, don't consent (1:10). The verse is saying that there is evil all around us, but we should stay strong and avoid the temptation. Sometime the easier or more appealing option is not the morally right option. The verse is telling us to avoid evil even if the evil is enticing. This verse sticks out to me because evil is all around us and it helps to be reminded that the choice is ours to do the right or wrong thing. We as humans are not perfect, but this week I am really going to strive to avoid temptation and do the right thing.
